Take your training to the next level with advanced techniques, live sparring, and the introduction of No-Gi.
The GB2 Program is designed for students who have built a strong foundation through GB1 and are ready to deepen their skills and push their training further.
With a focus on more advanced techniques, strategic drilling, positional awareness, and live sparring, GB2 offers a more intense and challenging experience – while still maintaining the structure and support Gracie Barra is known for.
This is also where students begin No-Gi training, expanding their understanding of Jiu-Jitsu by adapting techniques without the traditional uniform. No-Gi sessions help improve speed, agility, and grip control, preparing students for a broader range of competition and real-life scenarios.
Eligibility: Students must have at least 3 stripes on a white belt, typically earned after a minimum of 4 months of consistent training.
GB2 is where many students begin to refine their personal style, explore tactical thinking, and train at a more competitive pace – always in a safe, supportive environment.
Staying hydrated is essential. Bring a water bottle to keep refreshed throughout your training.
Wearing the official Gracie Barra Gi or No-Gi uniform reflects our team identity and maintains the high standards of our school.
Wear flip-flops or sandals to make it easy to step on and off the mat while keeping the training area clean.
While not mandatory, a mouthguard is strongly recommended for advanced classes involving live drills or sparring to protect your teeth and enhance safety.
Jiu-Jitsu Journey with Gracie Barra
EXCELLENT Based on 231 reviews Posted on Google Trisha DhillonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you’re looking for a Jiu-Jitsu gym in the Northern Beaches / Sydney area, I highly recommend Gracie Barra Sydney. I started here as a white belt with zero martial arts experience and have since earned my black belt. You simply cannot find this kind of lineage anywhere else. The head instructor, Professor Marcelo, trained directly under Carlos Gracie Jr., who is a part of the founding family of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Marcelo was also one of the first people to bring the school/ sport to Australia. The gym features excellent instructors who are passionate and knowledgeable about the sport (shoutout to Prof. Anderson and Markson). There are also great woman classes (shoutout prof. Giuliana). It accommodates all levels, from novices and hobbyists to active competitors. The facilities are well-maintained and the timetable suits different training schedules. The community is fantastic, and it is definitely a great place to make lifelong friends. Very thankful I chose to start my journey here.Posted on Google Sidney SuwalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and safe! thank you to Professor Anderson who was generous with his time - sharing his knowledge and giving me personalised feedback to uplevel my jiujitsu - much appreciated!! The atmosphere on the mats is welcoming and friendly with everyone helping each other improve. A special thank you to Markson for his patience, encouragement, and attention to detail, he’s had a big impact on my jiu-jitsu journey and helped me grow both on and off the mats! I’ve been training at Gracie Barra for almost 2 years now, and joining was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made. I trained at other schools before, but nowhere else made me feel as welcomed and at home as this place. The environment is great, the coaches are knowledgeable and supportive, and the team atmosphere makes training enjoyable every day. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, this is a place where you can grow, learn, and feel part of a real community. Highly recommend!Posted on Google HD BBTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. GB Sydney is an excellent academy and a very welcoming place for everyone. White belts with 3 stripes and above and all colored belts.
Yes. Sparring is an essential part of GB2, but partners are always matched based on experience to ensure safety and steady progress.
No-Gi training is Jiu-Jitsu practiced without the traditional Gi (kimono). It sharpens your technique, enhances athleticism, and prepares you for competition or self-defence in real-world situations.
